The Turkish city of Bursa is the most advanced in producing infants clothing and childrenswear, as entrepreneurs in the city manufacture clothes that set trends in the fashion world, with their contemporary, modern as well as cute design, said Governor of the city Munir Karaloglu, at the recently held textiles summit organized by the Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association of Turkey (MUSIAD) in the city.

According to a statement issued by Bursa regional government, the textiles and leather summit co-organized by MUSIAD and Children’s Apparel Industry Association (BEKSIAD) was held under the theme ‘Shining Star of Textiles: Baby and Children’s Clothing’, in order to host panel discussions regarding the future of textiles, apparel and leather industries, with a special focus on kidswear.

At the summit, Governor Koroluglu stressed on the importance of the city and its contribution in the textile and apparel industry of the country. Bursa’s textile and apparel industries account for 35 and 37 percent, respectively, of the total textile and apparel output of the country, he added.

The Governor informed that nearly 80 percent of the baby and children’s clothing in the country is manufactured in Bursa, and it is necessary for kidswear manufacturers in the city to diversify their markets through implementing new technology, especially nano technology in the production of these clothes.

The textiles summit saw participation from heads of various textiles and apparel associations in the country, including MUSIAD, BEKSIAD, Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters Association (ITKIB), as well as representatives of various apparel retail firms in Turkey.

Apparel retail firm LC WAIKIKI chairman Vahap Kucuk said branding is important for the children’s clothing manufacturers in Bursa, in order to make a mark in the international markets. Bursa is the leading producer of kidswear in the country and in order to compete in global markets, the entrepreneurs need to expand their production and invest in research and development, he added.

The textiles and leather summit was held at the Uludag Exporters Association (UIB) conference room. Major industrialists from the textiles and apparel sector of the country attended the event.
