57% of international buyers to purchase Chinese products will be increased or unchanged

The 2009 Time for Heroes Summit was held in Shenzhen on March 5, 2009. Craig Pepples, the CEO of Global Sources (a world-renowned consulting group), estimated that 57% of international buyers to purchase Chinese products will be increased or unchanged though effected by the global weakened consumption power.

He noted that in the year of 2009, according to 2009 Investigation on Importers conducted by Global Sources recently, 26% importers surveyed said they would increase their import volume, 20% of them predicted the volume would get even, while the rest worried it would probably decrease. In addition, the average product price required by importers lowered slightly and the quantity of ordering goods was getting more and more flexible.

However, China would still be the first choice for most buyers in their purchasing plans. 57% of them interviewed forecasted that they would increase or balance the total volume of imported goods from China in 2009 compared with that of 2008.

He also pointed out that what they concerned most was the weakened consumption power (21% polls) and the following one is the worry about suppliers which included difficulty in finding good suppliers (16% polls), increased product price (15% polls) and the stability of suppliers (15% polls).
