With toys, it's no surprise that the holiday season and weekends are the most important for sales. Specifically, 28 percent of total sales for specialty toy retailers occur on Saturdays, and another 18 percent happen on Fridays.
One-third of yearly sales are garnered in November and December, according to the Playthings ’ exclusive 2016 Specialty Toy Store survey.
The median size of a retailer’s toy store is 3,000 square feet. Nearly three-fourths of total space is allocated for selling products, and 79 percent of the selling space is devoted to toys and games.
The exclusive results from Playthings 2016 Toy Specialty Store survey were collected and analyzed in October and November 2015. Seventy-five percent of responding toy specialists operates one location, while 25 percent operates two or more stores. The results reflect the answers from more than 50 storefronts.
